The inclusion of his new family addition is exactly what the Audi was ready for. Tyler and his wife are expecting shortly, and have already purchased things like the seat and VW clothing to indoctrinate their new son as quickly as possible into the way of the car enthusiast. This idea is apparent when one hops in the rear seat and looks over to see a Recaro baby seat. Something I could rely on year-round and still enjoy” That could take me kayaking, hiking, or snowboarding. “The car was supposed to be something I could drive every day. He is as much an outdoor enthusiast as he is a car enthusiast, as you can see by his bike and kayak racks. This car is an extension of his personality. With a new Frankenturbo, new pistons and rings from Audi, aesthetic changes like the ECS Carbon Fiber Trunk Spoiler and Engine Cover, and a few bolt-ons, Tyler took his run-of-the-mill A4 and turned it into something special. His B8 is exactly that: a beefed up, mature, and comfortable daily driver. While he is not looking for something to put earthquake-inducing power into, an important factor in his driving experience was to be able to enjoy the car every time he drove it. One of two automatics he has ever owned, he enjoyed the B7 for its comfort and reliability. A few years ago, Tyler made the switch to German performance with the purchase of an Audi B7 A4. The Audi he most recently built tells something of a different story. Specifically, most of his previous cars included big turbos, extensive performance modifications, were intended for dedicated ‘spirited’ driving: both on tracks, or back roads.Īlzor 349 19×9.5 square sets on 235/40/19 tires finish off Tyler’s stance with an aggressive, yet classic look. All of his builds have been heavily modified. Since his DC2 Integra GSR in 2001, Tyler’s car history is filled with Subaru and Honda enthusiast vehicles. An avid enthusiast, Tyler is not new to modifying cars. Tyler sat down with me at a small sandwich shop in Ohio to give me a better idea of what he wanted his Audi to be. For our friend Tyler that was exactly the purpose behind this B8 A4 build. More accurately, this form of self-expression takes you everywhere. I just missed on buying a used NGauge, which got me rolling on this again.Modifying cars for many enthusiasts is not only a hobby, but a form of expression you take with you everywhere. Tell me boost, FP and AFR and ditch the pods. I like the idea of one gauge to rule them all. If I did this does the AFR stay plugged in, or is all the information go to the NGuage. I remember two wires on the AEM that said optional and I didn’t hook them up, I am guessing those are what I would OIG into the NGuage.

I really like it, in fact if I don’t get an NGauge I am getting AEMs boost gauge. My AFR is a AEM UEGO, I don’t know if there are more than one UEGO.

So, new question, does NGauge read boost from the OBD? I have a manual boost gauge (Glow Shift). I did get a cheap boost gauge and I am not happy with it, not sure it works right, or the dual pod gauge I have. It all appears to be working, but I didn’t get a gauge for that yet. I had to set a Fuel Pressure sensor on my fuel regulator and integrated that into the FPCM. I have done some things that have led me back to NGauge. Hi Blake, looking to revive our conversation here. My goal is to add a fuel pressure but not another above dash pod or two connectors on the OBD. Would that alleviate the OBD for the AFR? So I could take the input connector from the AEM and plug it into the NGauge (not sure if that is the EIO you referenced)? I see on the back of an NGauge there are three receptacles that look like phone jacks, and one that is a four or five pin hookup. I am using one for AFR (actually in lambda) and the other for nitrous bottle pressure. I just teed off those for the signals I needed.īoth the nGauge and Aeroforce have room for (2) 5v inputs. If you are familiar with datalogging AFR with HPT (the EIO input), you will understand what I am talking about. I then ran them to my nGauge in one of the analog ports. I have HPTuners and Teed into the two wires that go to the AFR wires for datalogging AFR. It may say something like external logger or something similar.

Instructions on how to do that should be in the directions for the AFR setup. You can run an analog signal from the AFR to either of those gauges for a display.
